In 1929 Joaquín L. Rodriguez, defendant herein, brought an action in the District Court of Humacao against Alejan-drina Guadalupe Ortiz and her minor children, plaintiffs herein, to recover the sum of $2,548.15. The defendants failed to appear in that case and the cleric entered their default and rendered judgment for the amount claimed.
