GURFEIN, Circuit Judge:

The plaintiff, Masia Mukmuk, is a Black Muslim leader who spent 15 years in New York state prisons. 1 From his own allegations in his civil rights complaint, he was an activist in prison. One cannot help but read between the lines that he has been a thorn in the side of prison officials during most of his prison life. Such activism tends to elicit a reactive use of power. To persons in authority in the prison scene that power is readily available.
