Northlake Federal Savings & Loan Association (“Northlake”) filed this suit on April 28, 1986 in the 24th Judicial District Court for the Parish of Jefferson against real estate appraiser Max Derbes, Jr. (“Derbes”) his appraisal firm, Max Derbes, Inc. and an employee, appraiser Michael Truax (“Truax”), to recover the balance of a loan made to build a parking garage/retail development in New Orleans, Louisiana’s Warehouse District.
