The conviction is for the felony offense defined by Art. 602-A V.A.P.C., which provides in part that any parent who has been convicted of the misdemeanor offense of deserting, neglecting or refusing to provide for the support and maintenance of his *655child or children under 18 years of age, and who shall thereafter wilfully desert, neglect or refuse to provide for the support and maintenance of his child or children under 18 years of age, shall for each and every subsequent such violation be guilty of a felony and, upon conviction, shall be punished by confinement in…
