OPINION OF THE COURT

GRAVELLE, Judge:

In accordance with his pleas, the appellant was found guilty of attempting to unlawfully transfer a machine gun, looting, altering a public record, and smuggling,1 in violation of Articles 80, 103, and 134, Uniform Code of Military Justice, 10 U.S.C. §§ 880, 903, and 934 (1982). A military judge, sitting as a general court-martial, sentenced him to a bad-conduct discharge, to pay a fine of $1000.00, and to be reduced to Private El.
