In November, 1888, Gallas Ruff and his daughter, Mary Baumbach, whilst driving together, collided with a train of cars, which resulted in the instant death of Mary Baumbach, and that of Gallas Ruff three days thereafter. He left surviving him a widow, Theresia Ruff, and four children, Joseph Ruff, Michael Ruff, Caroline Ruff Kienzlen, and Magdalena Ruff Schloemer; and his daughter Mary Baumbach left surviving her four infant children and her husband, the appellee George Baumbach.
