This appeal concerns the sufficiency of the evidence at trial of two separate charges of possessing a firearm illegally, as well as a challenge to the sentence imposed pursuant to guilty pleas to drug offenses. The defendant appeals the refusal of the district court to grant a post-verdict judgment of acquittal on Count One, which charged the defendant with using and carrying a firearm on October 23, 1998 “during and in relation to” a drug trafficking crime in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 924(c).
