Appeal by the defendant from a judgment of the Supreme Court, Kings County (Miller, J.), rendered May 13, 1992, convicting him of robbery in the first degree (three counts), and burglary in the second degree, upon a jury verdict, and imposing sentence.

Ordered that the judgment is affirmed.

We reject the defendant’s contention that he was denied a fundamental right to be present during a material stage of the trial by his absence from an initial, off-the-record Sandoval conference (see, People v Sandoval, 34 NY2d 371).
