Appellant was arrested on March 6, 1981, by the City of Birmingham Police Department in Birmingham, Alabama, and charged with first degree robbery. He was tried before a jury in the Circuit Court of Jefferson County on December 17, 1981, and was found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment without parole under the Habitual Offender Act. On the entry of judgment appellant gave notice of appeal.
