SULLIVAN, Chief Judge:

In May of 1989, appellant was tried by a general court-martial composed of officer and enlisted members at Fort Benning, Georgia. Contrary to his pleas, he was found guilty of two specifications of premeditated murder, in violation of Article 118, Uniform Code of Military Justice, 10 USC § 918. He was sentenced to a dishonorable discharge, confinement for life, total forfeitures, and reduction to Private E-l. On September 11, 1989, the convening authority approved the adjudged sentence.
