This divorce proceeding is closely related to Apostolicas Properties Corp. v. Richman, post 671 (1990), and has been decided by the same panel of this court.

Nanette Richman (the wife) brought this divorce proceeding in the Norfolk County Probate Court on December 29, 1986, by a complaint alleging cruel and abusive treatment and adultery. This complaint was amended on February 23, 1988, during the trial, at the suggestion of the presiding judge, to assert the ground of irretrievable breakdown of the *656marriage upon which the judgments nisi were granted on March 4, 1988.1…
