KRESSEL, Bankruptcy Judge.
I. Background
On October 16, 1996, Mary Line-berger filed a Motion for Relief from Stay in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas. The Court 1 granted Lineberger’s motion on December 13, 1996. On January 9, 1997, Crockett, acting pro se, filed a notice of appeal from the bankruptcy court’s order. 2 Because the appeal appeared to be untimely, on February 4, 1997, we ordered the appellant to show cause why her appeal should not be dismissed for lack of subject matter jurisdiction. 3 She filed a response on February 24, 1997.
