A power plant was being built where the four plaintiffs fell from a scaffold while lifting a massive stone in behalf of a stonemason subcontractor. The defendant Caye Construction Company was a prime contractor which undertook to furnish the scaffold for the use of the masons. The defendant Wielandt Construction Company was the brick subcontractor which built it. The scaffold collapsed because it was defectively constructed and the direct cause of the tragedy was traced to a twisted part of an outrigger bracket.
