The opinion of the court was delivered by Biles, J.:

In 1974, Elton Donahue received a life sentence with the possibility of parole because of his convictions for aggravated kidnapping. In 2016, Donahue filed a motion to correct an illegal sentence. He claims his sentence of life imprisonment with a mandatory 15-year term violates the Eighth Amendment to the United States Constitution because he was only 16 years old when he committed the crimes.
