Case History

The genesis of this case is a motor-vehicle accident that occurred on county road 88 in Lauderdale County. On January 11, 2003, Patricia J. Holt and Cori Nicole Howard, Holt’s granddaughter, were traveling to Lexington Elementary School in a vehicle that Holt was driving. To get to the school they had to travel across a narrow bridge over a creek bed. Before arriving at the bridge, Holt’s vehicle crested a hill, entered an “S” curve, which turned to the left and then to the right.
