The application of petitioner to adopt his stepson is opposed by respondent, the natural father. Petitioner’s present wife, who consents to the application, was married to respondent in March, 1943. The infant was born in December of the same year. In January, 1946, after several separations, the mother and respondent executed an agreement of separation in which she agreed to relinquish all claims for support and respondent agreed to pay her a lump sum in settlement, to renounce all claim and right to his son and to consent to any future adoption of the son.
