Michael Eugene Thompson appeals from the district court’s denial of his petition for a writ of habeas corpus pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 2254 following his conviction for capital murder and the imposition of the death penalty. On appeal, Thompson seeks reversal of the district court’s denial of federal habeas relief based on two claims:(1) His conviction and sentence were based upon a confession which was unlawfully obtained and admitted at trial in violation of his Fifth and Fourteenth Amendment rights.(2) He was deprived of his Sixth Amendment right to effective…
