John D. McDermid died in Multnomah County, Oregon, on February 21, 1920. His sole surviving heir at law was his widow, Eliza J. McDermid. He was an old resident of Sherman County, Oregon, and was an inhabitant of that county at the time of his decease. During his lifetime he was a man of thrift and accumulated a valuable estate. At the time of his death he was the owner of more than 1,600 acres of fertile wheat lands situate in the county of his habitation, personal property of the value of $20,000, and his indebtedness did not exceed $1,000.
