THOMPSON, Judge.

The mother, N.G., appeals from the trial court’s denial of her petition for modification of a custody determination pertaining to her minor son, B.G. We reverse and remand.

Before November 23, 1998, C.E.G. and N.G., husband and wife, lived together' with B.G. The wife, N.G., was employed in a sales position. Her supervisor testified at ■ the final hearing in the modification proceeding that her job performance during this period was excellent. On November 23, 1998, C.E.G. died of cancer.
