Appeal from an order of the Family Court of Otsego County (Burns, J.), entered November 28, 2001, which partially granted petitioner’s application, in a proceeding pursuant to Family Ct Act article 6, for custody of the parties’ child.

The parties, who never married, have a child, Stephen, born in November 1995. After paternity was established in February 1996, petitioner began biweekly daytime visitation which *885expanded to overnight stays when Stephen was about 15 months old.
