11 Defendant, Paul David Heider, was charged with vehicular homicide and third degree feticide, in violation of La.R.S. 14:32.1 and 14:32.8.

The trial court conducted a Daubert hearing to determine the admissibility of scientific evidence for use at trial. A portion of the testimony was explicitly perpetuated for later use at trial.
