On June 3, 2009, Abedi Pilgrim entered a nonnegotiated guilty plea to six counts of armed robbery and six counts of aggravated assault. He was sentenced to 40 years, to serve 20. On June 22, 2009, Pilgrim, pro se, filed a motion to withdraw his guilty plea and for appointment of counsel. At a June 26, 2009 hearing, Pilgrim withdrew his motions to withdraw his guilty plea and for appointment of new counsel, and was resentenced to 30 years, with 12 to serve.
