Federal National Mortgage Association (“FNMA”) filed an action against Jeffery K. Jarrett seeking possession of certain premises occupied by Jarrett. In its complaint, FNMA alleged that its predecessor in interest had entered into a mortgage-loan contract with Jarrett, that FNMA had foreclosed on the mortgage, and that, although it had served Jarrett with a written demand for possession of the subject property, Jarrett had failed or refused to vacate the property.
