The relator presented his petition to this court, alleging that his wife, Lizzie Nuber, was illegally detained by the defendant, by reason of an alleged sentence of the court of quarter sessions of the county of Erie, passed upon her on the 25th day of May, 1897, and praying that a writ of habeas corpus might issue to bring her before this court, in order that the legality of the sentence under which she was confined might be determined.
