The appellee B. C. Jones, Sheriff of Lafayette County, presented a claim of $625 to the board of supervisors for services rendered as such official during the year 1939 and for the period beginning on the first Monday in January, 1944, and ending on June 30, 1945, for which no compensation had been previously claimed or allowed. The claim was divided as to the sums alleged to be due for the year 1939 and those for the said subsequent period.
