The Public Utilities Commission, on the application of John M. Stanley, granted a certificate of convenience and necessity, authorizing him to operate motor vehicles on public ways, to and. fro, between Portland and Lewiston, over a route wholly within the State, and not part of any continuous transit to and from another State, in the common' carriage of goods for compensation or hire (i.e., as a business). A certificate for the purpose of operating between Lewiston and Haines Landing was denied.
