Plaintiff-appellant Nectarios Koupetoris (“Plaintiff”), a citizen and resident of Greece, brought suit in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York to recover damages under the Jones Act (the “Act”), 46 U.S.C. § 688, and the General Maritime Law of the United States, or, in the alternative, under Liberian law, for personal injuries allegedly sustained on July 19, 1974 off the coast of Maryland, during the course of his employment as a seaman aboard the KONKAR INTREPID (“INTREPID”), the only vessel owned by the…
