OPINION
DAVID PURYEAR, Justice.
Appellant Lamont Hankins was convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, specifically a hot iron or knife, and sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment. See Tex. PemCode Ann. § 22.01 (West 2004). The trial court admitted evidence of appellant’s prior felony conviction of manufacture and delivery of cannabis from 1989. Appellant complains that- evidence of the 1989 prior conviction was improperly admitted and claims that the admission affected his substantial rights.
