This is an action of debt brought by the plaintiff against the defendant on a sealed instrument, of ■which the following is a copy;
*321“ $3,000. On or before the 25th day of December next, I promise to pay Ann Y. Martin, or order, three thousand dollars, for value received, as witness’my hand and seal.
Allatoona, January 6th, 1864.
