OPINION

GRANT, Justice.

'Frank Jones appeals his conviction for the offense of murder. Punishment was assessed at confinement for life in the Institutional Division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Appeal is perfected in a criminal case, when no motion for new trial has been filed, when a written notice of appeal is filed within thirty days after the day sentence is imposed in open court.
