On January 21, 1960, at approximately 6:30 p. m., David Paulson, 2VV years of age, was scalded by the contents of a coffee percolator about 15 minutes after arriving at the home of defendant, Ms grandmother, where he, Ms parents, and Ms infant brother were to be guests for dinner. The percolator had been placed by the defendant near the edge and middle of the narrower side of a 32 by 45 Vi-inch table. It was attached, by a 6-foot 3-inch cord, to an electrical outlet located about 6 inches above it and 20 inches away, so that the cord looped down in the space between the table…
