In connection with the death of 16-month-old B. D., a grand jury indicted Myhoa Thi Hoang on two counts of felony murder,1 two counts of cruelty to children,2 and one count of contributing to the *404deprivation of a minor.3 A jury found her guilty of one count of cruelty to children by unlawfully and maliciously causing B. D. excessive pain by failing to seek medical treatment after the child had sustained a serious head injury, guilty of contributing to the deprivation of a minor, and not guilty of all other counts.
