Plaintiff, Doris N. Ellis, instituted this action for damages incurred as a result of injuries sustained when an elevator in which she was riding at her place of employment, Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation, allegedly came to an abrupt stop below the ground floor level. Named as defendants were Dover Elevator Company (“Dover”) and its insurer, Highlands Insurance Company, Ochsner Foundation Hospital, Inc., two of its staff physicians, and two of its employees.
