Gregory, Chief Justice:

This appeal is from an order of the circuit court affirming the denial of a grievance proceeding. We remand to the State Employee Grievance Committee as set forth below.

Appellant Dawson was employed as a documents examiner with the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED). As a re-*60suit of complaints alleging misconduct, Dawson was called to Chief Stewart’s office on Friday, April 22,1988. Chief Stewart told Dawson he could resign or he would be terminated. He told Dawson to consider it over the weekend and they would discuss it the following Monday, April 25.
