SNELL, Presiding Judge.
Plaintiff, Francis J. Picray, Jr., sought to appeal to the district court a decision of the Civil Service Commission. Pursuant to Iowa Code section 400.27, he filed a notice of appeal with the clerk of the district court within the thirty-day time limit from the date of filing of the commission’s decision. On the 31st day following the date of filing of the commission’s decision, the Sheriff of Polk County received a notice of appeal for service on the secretary of the Civil Service Commission.
