Chester Green was killed in the parish of Natchitoches at his post of duty as brakeman on the railroad known as the “Victoria, Fisher & Western Railroad.”
His work consisted in switching the cars loaded with logs. He, in the discharge of his duty as brakeman, was standing on a ear of a log train with his brake staff in the *549socket of the car, ready to put the brakes on, when, a log fell from the third ear, the ■rear end of the log train.
