Plaintiff Joseph James filed a complaint against Sergeants Melendez, Cronin and Hanratty alleging violations of his civil rights by falsely arresting and maliciously prosecuting him without probable cause, causing him damage. The case proceeded to a six day jury trial, at the end of which the seven-person jury delivered a unanimous verdict for the defendants.
