We granted leave to consider defendant’s claim that he was denied the effective assistance of trial counsel. The trial court, acting as trier of fact, found defendant guilty of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, MCL 750.520b; MSA 28.788(2), and sentenced him to a five to fifteen year term of imprisonment. After a Ginther hearing 1 ordered by the Court of Appeals, the trial court denied defendant’s motion for a new trial.
