BARRETT, Commissioner.

Upon a charge of murder in the first degree while “attempting to perpetrate rape” upon his granddaughter, Joann, age 13, Cecil E. Floyd, age 65, has been found guilty of manslaughter and his punishment fixed at ten years’ imprisonment.

About 8 o’clock on May 27, 1960, Joann disappeared from her home on North Main Street and on June 7 her decomposed body was found in a rather secluded area known as Scott’s Addition on the outskirts of Excelsior Springs.
