RUIZ, Associate Judge:

This case presents us with the question whether and under what circumstances the Superior Court may award joint legal custody to the unmarried parents of a child. 1 We hold that joint legal custody is also a permissible arrangement in the context of unmarried parents, which may be ordered by the trial court in its discretion on the basis of articulated reasoning considering the relevant factors. We remand the case to give the trial court an opportunity to reconsider and articulate the reasons for its order in light of the relevant factors we identify in this decision, as…
