At approximately 5:30 p.m. on January 31, 2004, Leonardo Perez (victim) was shot and killed by an intruder while making dinner for his family in an apartment in the Jamaica Plain section of Boston. The victim’s wife, his Morales,1 was present in the apartment at the time and was threatened with a firearm by the intruder before he departed. Gualberto Barrero Cruz, a man familiar to the victim and his family, was indicted for the murder. He was also indicted for armed home invasion, assault by means of a dangerous weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawful possession of ammunition.…
