OPINION

Patchett, J.

This claim is the result of an accident which occurred on January 17, 1985, at the intersection of 143rd Street and Harlem Avenue in Orland Park, Illinois. Lynch was proceeding westbound on 143rd Street. As she passed the top of a hill, she lost control of her car in icy conditions. She veered into the eastbound lane and was hit by another automobile. As a result of this accident, she sustained serious injuries.
