In this criminal case, the appellant was charged with robbery. After a jury trial, she was convicted and sentenced as an habitual offender under Ark. Stat. Ann. § 41-1001 (Repl. 1977) to twenty-three years in the Arkansas Department of Correction. From that decision, comes this appeal.

On January 28, 1983, the appellant was detained by employees of a Safeway grocery store after she was observed placing six steaks under her clothing. In the ensuing melee, the appellant was alleged to have bitten one of the employees and violently resisted her apprehension. She fled the…
