The plaintiffs’ complaint against John Crane, Inc., a/k/a John Crane-Houdaille, Inc. (Crane), and its vice-president of human resources, Arthur J. DeStephano (DeStephano), alleged three claims arising from Crane’s termination of the plaintiffs’ employment. The first claim was for breach of contract alleging that an employment contract existed between plaintiffs and Crane requiring Crane to comply with a four-step progressive disciplinary policy before termination of employment and that Crane had not complied with this procedure before terminating them.
