¶1 Jennifer Megan Mau was convicted of making a false claim for payment of a loss under a contract of insurance, in violation of RCW 48.30-.230. She challenges the sufficiency of the evidence to support her conviction. RCW 48.30.230(l)(a) criminalizes false claims “for the payment of a loss under a contract of insurance.” In this case, the State failed to prove the existence of any “contract of insurance” underlying Mau’s claim; we therefore reverse the conviction.
