Reporter's statement of the case: Section 1 of the act of June 3, 1856, 11 Stat., 21, enacts “ that there be, and hereby is, granted to the State of Michigan, to aid in the construction of railroads * * * from Grand Haven and Pere Marquette to Flint, and thence to Port Huron,” certain designated sections of land, which lands “ shall be held by the State of Michigan for the use and purpose aforesaid.”
