Following a bench trial in Derry District Court (Coughlin, J.), the defendant, Brian T. O’Maley, was convicted of driving while under *127the influence of intoxicating liquor (DWI). See RSA 265:82 (2004); RSA 265:82-b (Supp. 2006). We affirm.

I. Background

The record supports the following: On August 1, 2005, the then-seventeen-year-old defendant was driving his father’s vehicle on Mammoth Road in Derry, when he crashed into a telephone pole and mailbox post, injuring his head and damaging the vehicle.
