This matter is before the Court on a finding of direct contempt, under Mississippi Code Annotated § 9-1-17 (1972), and summary punishment therefor. The appellant appeared as a defense witness in criminal cause No. 4151 in the Circuit Court of DeSoto County on June 27, 1984, to give testimony on behalf of the defendant, John Tailor Gullett, III, who was being tried for perjury. The appellant testified on June 27th, and a formal contempt citation was entered by the court on the following day.
