Knudsen filed a claim against Benson under § 19 (a) of the Longshoremen’s and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, March 4, 1927, c. 509, 44 Stat. 1424. Benson’s answer denied,-among other things, that the relation of employer and employee existed between him and the claimant. The evidence introduced before the deputy *66commissioner, which occupies 78 pages of the printed-record, was directed largely to that issue and was conflicting.
