In 1853 the plaintiff corporation was organized under the joint stock laws of this state, taking the name of four of its principal corporators or promoters. Two of these, Israel Holmes and John C. Booth, whose names appear in the corporate title, by long experience had acquired considerable skill and reputation in the manufacture of brass, the business for which the corporation was organized.
